Banana Bread
Hey Everyone! Hope you are having a brilliant day :)
This week encompassed a lot of traveling, meetings, and work. This week has honestly flown by. Tuesday was a pretty normal day, but then that night we left and stayed with some Elders in Wembly because there was a leadership council for mission leaders, like my companion who is our district leader. So I was left with Elder Colemere while him and the Wembly elders went to the council Wednesday.
I finally got to ride the busses and we met a lot of people on the streets and invited them to learn more about Jesus Christ with us. Super fun stuff. The council lasted a really long time so we actually ended up staying another night in Wembly then zoomed off the next morning to Exchanges with the Elders in Stevenage and spent the day with them. Me and my companion had a dinner appointment with some members—a elderly lady and her 2 sons— and I was warned before we went to "beware of the splash zone". I quickly learned that one of the gentlemen I was sitting by spit uncontrollably a lot as he talked. But that's the stuff you come to love on your mission. Dinner was still super good though. And truly I mean no offense to the man I sat by. Forgot his name too...
The next day we had a 3 Weeks Strong Meeting with all the other missionaries who have only been out 3 weeks and the Mission President with his wife. It was a very motivating meeting and something that he said that I really liked was "You know the value of what you are giving up, but you don't know the value of what you are going to gain." Just wow. Very true. Sometimes I think about my life back home and what I would be doing in college or with friends and family and those relationships, but right now it's important to focus on my relationship and this opportunity I have with God and sharing His gospel. I have yet to really learn the value of that, but as I've walked in Faith I've captured a glimpse of how much it truly is worth, and I know as I continue on that glimpse will turn into a much fuller picture.
Saturday we had District council. I woke up and saw we had some older bananas, sooo I made some banana bread from my grandma's famous recipe. They turned out soooo good. Before we all met together the Elders helped transport a donated couch that would be going to the sister missionaries. We brought it with us to the church where we met and talked about goals and planned some things as a District. I also gave a short training on how we can use the Book of Mormon. It went really well. After our discussions we indulged in some of the scrum-diddly-uptous banana bread that Elder Reid, who is Gluten-free, popped some pills that he never tried before (they are supposed to break gluten down) to have some. He loved it. Good stuff. I've made more since then and added chocolate chips. We moved the couch into the Sister missionaries flat afterward.
After Church on Sunday, we went and did some street finding and I got in my first real bash with someone about God. He didn't want to have it and just was looking to argue and prove me wrong, but as I stood for what I believed in I knew what I was testifying of was true. As we parted ways, sure I was sad he was so against God and didn't even want to hear me out, BUT I was so happy that I have the gospel of Jesus Christ and took comfort and joy in that. I was happy I had stood for truth and knew that God was pleased with that as well.
This P-day we are just staying in town and taking care of some needs of ours: haircuts, shopping, cleaning, etc.
Mosiah Ch. 2 Verse 41:
"And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it."
