Yes. The Church Is Open

Image
This week has been blessed. I'm back on the streets more than I ever was last transfer, and it feels good. My area is 70% African, and the ward is more than 50% African as well. Everybody is so kind and believes in God. The only problem is everybody works so much. It's hard to find a time to meet. When I met Elder Roney, the missionary whom I was replacing as I came into the area, he said, "Have fun, you're teaching a family of 8 now." On Sunday, we met with them, and sure enough, it's an amazing African family: Grandma, Mom, Dad, 4 boys, 1 girl; all eager to learn the gospel. They are super cool. Keep them in your prayers! We went to the temple with one of our newer members, Frank, and the Bishop as well this week, and we had such a good time. Elder Ohms is my new companion from Cedar City, Utah. He's funny, and we are having a great time. When we talk to people and explain that our chapel is covered in scaffolding (it's been undergoing some window re...

I'm Going To London!

What a week! We had MLC and Zone Conference with Elder Whiting, who is one of our church's General Authorities. He shared some awesome things about how we can improve our "urgency" in the Lord's work. We also did some back-to-back exchanges, so I went with Elder Black in Wembley and then brought Elder Coltharp with me to Staines. That was so much fun, and we had some super cool lessons. One of the members had us over for the first time ever since she moved into the ward, and she was SO excited. She brought José as well so that we could understand her since she only spoke Spanish. Story time We had a crazy cool miracle on Sunday. We planned to go street finding after church on Sunday with two members; a couple named Asquith and Vanessa. We said a prayer and went out to talk to people in the high street. After having some really good conversations, we headed down further, and I saw a Polish man named Christoph standing on the side of the street with some groceries and s...

Nothing Too Crazy

Image
Honestly, it's been such a busy two weeks. Nothing too crazy happened, other than the guy we helped who fell off his bike and got injured. His helmet saved him 100%. Highly recommend wearing a helmet when riding a bike if you haven't been doing so lately. We taught a lot this week and, on exchanges with the APs, we extended a date for our friend, Ashley, to be baptized in March. He brought his two kids to church with him on Sunday, and they are adorable. Things are going really well, and I love this ward. We'll find out next week what will happen at Transfers... Hope everyone else is doing swell! Ether 12:4 "Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God. Which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God."
