Knock Knock. Who's there? Ach. Achwhoooo?

Surprise Surprise. Thought I could escape, but guess not! Elder Richter and I both got the Covid      This week started out great. We had some lessons everyday, even some dinner appointments with church members; there was a super fun District Council where we discovered everyone was from a different country.     I went on exchanges with Elder Cardoso, from Brazil, and we had fun on the streets. He taught me even more about working with church members that I'm gonna have to try out. I also learned how to say "Do you believe in God?" in Portuguese: VocĂȘ acredita em Deus?     The weather has been beautiful, but starting Friday I quickly learned I wasn't going to be enjoying it for much longer as that's when I started to feel gross and my companion felt the same way too. He ended up testing and I quickly followed suit when I saw he came up positive. Since then we've stayed in our flat trying to get better but the symptoms haven't really begun to let up....

1 Down, 1 To Go

Good day everyone! Happy belated Father's Day to anyone on my email list who is a father or future father. Also, Happy 1 year to me! It's been a whole year of being on my mission. Can't believe it. Time really does fly. This has been an interesting week with big highlights.     On Tuesday we had exchanges with the Worthing Elders, so Elder Balzen and I had a blast. We had quite an eventful day because we ended up getting locked out of the flat and I was mentally preparing myself to find shelter on the streets, but luckily a member who was a locksmith came to the rescue. Not only did he help us get into the flat, but he TAUGHT us how to get back into the flat. Before we could get in he shut the door and handed us a piece of plastic and said "You got it". Elder Balzen was an amazing locksmith apprentice and got the door unlocked after about 30 seconds. Our friend then told us 80% of England's houses and flats use the type of lock we learned to break into. Remind...

Beautiful Brighton

I'm now serving in Brighton with Elder Elder Richter from Germany. Elder Richter and I actually came to London at the same time and quarantined in the same flat for 5 days.      Brighton is SO beautiful. We live by the coast and there's a ton of tourist things to do. Luckily I live here so I have time to explore. Sunday we had a good amount of friends come to church and they loved it. We also had to stay in the chapel most of the day because there was a naked bike race in the afternoon.      We live with the Chinese Speaking Elders- Elder Chen (from China) and Elder Woodbrey (from New York). They have some funny food habits; chicken and rice every single day, and Nutella, egg, and bread sandwiches for breakfast. They had a baptism on Saturday.     We opened up the Crawley Zone and this is Elder Richter's first time being a zone leader. Our zone is much smaller than my last one: 7 companionships. I say "opened up" because this zone was a lot bigger...

Long Live The Queen

This week was a blast. Last week of the transfer = Send Week. We tried to do a fun challenge as zone where we would send into the zone chat pictures of us with some people we shared the Book of Mormon with. If the zone hit our goal, then we (the Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders) would drink an awful concoction of who-knows-what. We were going to let the companionships in the zone pick any ingredient. Fortunately for us, we didn't hit the goal. But it was a fun activity!      It was also the week of Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee! Which basically is a celebration for having the longest living Monarch in England; that being 70 years of service!      We had some exchanges with Gravesend that were a blast. We had a cool miracle where we felt a prompting from God to turn around and get food for lunch at a different store and on the way we met Elle, who's Romanian, but wanted us to share our message with his entire family. 2 Days later the Gravesend Elders did...
