I Hate Being Scum

Image
I have played a card game called President a lot recently where the objective is to become and stay "President" which brings you a lot of perks along with a feeling of royalty because below the rank of President is Vice President, Senator, and Scum. Scum have to clear the table of cards and give their 3 best cards to the President in return for the President's 3 worst cards at the start of each game. I have been Scum way too many times when we played this week and it's really lowered my self esteem. I'm mostly kidding   Anyways! This week was great! We had interviews with the mission President in London and had a great time learning and counseling together as a zone. We also had exchanges, which were a blast. I was with Elder Wood in a place called Slough and I don't think I've ever talked to more Muslims in a single day. There's a huge community there. We went to visit this woman named Zoe who wanted to learn more about the Book of Mormon and had a gr...

Do You Want To Be Christian?

Image
There are a lot of Muslim communities where we like to go, so I start talking to people and find out they are muslim and just ask if they want to be Christian. Most of the time they say no, but it's actually worked twice this week.    Anyways! Hope everyone is doing well. I sure am. We had AP Exchanges in London this week and then the rest of the week was kind of a surprise each day because our plans always fell through, which left us scrambling to come up with more plans that later changed into more new plans. One cool thing that ACTUALLY did happen was we had dinner with 2 people that weren't members of our church. We met a lady outside the train station last week that was interested in learning more "over dinner" so she invited us to her place with her future hubby and we had a nice chat about our beliefs and their beliefs. They said we are welcome back anytime.    But we made it to Sunday eventually which was awesome because I got to go back to Brighton for 2 fri...

Staines-Upon-Thames

This place is great! It's already left a mark on me for the better and the ward is spectacular! I've felt super welcomed this week and we had a lot of fun activities we got to participate in. When I arrived on Tuesday I got to meet a couple of the young adults at volleyball and one of my favorite people I've met is Cameron. He is the sweetest and funniest person I've met. He has down syndrome but the ward wouldn't be the Staines ward without him. He keeps everything lively and positive.    We had a lot of referrals this week and were able to start teaching a lot of people. One of them is our friend, Jason who wants to have the Spirit more a part of this life. He's a really humble guy with great intentions. He's had a lot of physical health challenges and he's lucky to be alive. Please pray for him!   My companion Elder Ojala is a legend! He's quiet but hilarious. He always cracks a joke when you least expect it. He's also a super good teacher. I ...

Overcome The World And Find Rest

Had a great MLC this week on Tuesday. We decided to start having weekly planning started off as a mission in the morning on Fridays via Zoom, and the APs also give a quick morning training; something new to spice up our weeks.    Wednesday was Elder Watson's birthday so we celebrated with some members in the evening and had cake. I also was on exchanges with Elder Nevers who's only been out 2 months. We had a great time and had some lessons happen that day. We were supposed to teach 2 guys named Patrick and one of them confirmed they would meet us and the other didn't. The one that confirmed never showed up and later called to explain something happened. The Patrick we didn't expect to see actually came. It was pretty funny, but it was cool because we are now consistently teaching the surprise Patrick.      This weekend we had General Conference and we hosted it at the chapel and invited people to come and watch. Some of our friends loved it and fortunately the ...
