I Hate Being Scum
I have played a card game called President a lot recently where the objective is to become and stay "President" which brings you a lot of perks along with a feeling of royalty because below the rank of President is Vice President, Senator, and Scum. Scum have to clear the table of cards and give their 3 best cards to the President in return for the President's 3 worst cards at the start of each game. I have been Scum way too many times when we played this week and it's really lowered my self esteem. I'm mostly kidding
Anyways! This week was great! We had interviews with the mission President in London and had a great time learning and counseling together as a zone. We also had exchanges, which were a blast. I was with Elder Wood in a place called Slough and I don't think I've ever talked to more Muslims in a single day. There's a huge community there. We went to visit this woman named Zoe who wanted to learn more about the Book of Mormon and had a great discussion with her. It was a really spiritual experience for us because Elder Wood dropped this fire testimony and it gave us all Goosebumps and Zoe said she felt the Spirit after what he said that it was true and almost started crying. She has a super sweet soul.
We had 3 baptisms on Saturday because there is this family that the previous Elders had been teaching before I got here that had partially been baptized but none confirmed and we finally helped them all be baptized that needed to be baptized and then all confirmed and receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. The Spirit was like a tidal wave and it was as if you could feel God's love sweep from one end of the room to the other. Super happy for them.
We had a lesson with our friend Mehdi and he surprised us because he brought his 2 daughters with him to the lesson. One was 5 and the other was 8. They were the sweetest girls and were surprisingly good artists (They colored while we taught the lesson) Immediately following our lesson with them our new friend Simon came and got a chapel tour and learned about the Book of Mormon with us. He really wants to get involved and is super keen on studying the book. We are super excited for him.
Have a great week! Happy Halloween
Spiritual Thought:
“Materialism, which gives priority to material needs and objects, is obviously the opposite of spirituality. The Savior taught that we should not lay up ‘treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal’ (Matthew 6:19). We should lay up treasures in heaven: ‘For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also’ (Matthew 6:21).
