I'm Going To London!
What a week!
We had MLC and Zone Conference with Elder Whiting, who is one of our church's General Authorities. He shared some awesome things about how we can improve our "urgency" in the Lord's work.
We also did some back-to-back exchanges, so I went with Elder Black in Wembley and then brought Elder Coltharp with me to Staines. That was so much fun, and we had some super cool lessons. One of the members had us over for the first time ever since she moved into the ward, and she was SO excited. She brought José as well so that we could understand her since she only spoke Spanish.
Story time
We had a crazy cool miracle on Sunday. We planned to go street finding after church on Sunday with two members; a couple named Asquith and Vanessa. We said a prayer and went out to talk to people in the high street. After having some really good conversations, we headed down further, and I saw a Polish man named Christoph standing on the side of the street with some groceries and started to talk. He at first didn't seem interested, but Asquith came over and started talking, and we were able to address some of his concerns about his faith and share our testimonies. He felt the Spirit and wanted to learn more. I felt prompted to ask Asquith if we could have him over for dinner at his house, since we already had plans to afterward. Of course, he thought it was a great idea, and we got Vanessa and Elder Palm to meet him as we walked back to the car. We showed him around the chapel, and Elder Palm remembered that we had a copy of the Book of Mormon in Polish in a cupboard there. It was the ONLY copy of the Book of Mormon we had in another language at the chapel. Elder Palm followed Christoph, Asquith, and Vanessa to the house, and we were able to get to know him and teach the Restoration before sharing a meal at the table. It was such an awesome experience, and Christoph said it "was the best day he had in over 23 years." We are excited to continue teaching and helping him.
Transfer news is that I will be going to London! I will be serving in an area called Catford with a companion named Elder Ohms. I've been spoiled to have a car my whole mission up to this point, but this time I will be traveling by tube and bus. I'm excited to figure that one out. I will now be a District Leader and lead a smaller group of missionaries. I'm super excited!
Staines was such a blessing to serve in. The members are absolutely wonderful, and many of them have become great friends.
Marvin J. Ashton:
"Charity is, perhaps, in many ways, a misunderstood word. We often equate charity with visiting the sick, taking in casseroles to those in need, or sharing our excess with those who are less fortunate. But really, true charity is much, much more. Real charity is not something you give away; it is something that you acquire and make a part of yourself. And when the virtue of charity becomes implanted in your heart, you are never the same again. It makes the thought of [putting others down] repulsive."
