I Can Play The Guitar.
The weeks are flying by! Staying busy is a good thing.
We had interviews this week with our mission president's, President and Sister Thompson. That was awesome. We had some good trainings while a set of Elders or Sisters had an interview. This next transfer (period of about 6 weeks when you could change areas and missionaries move around, arrive, or go home) is exciting. Can't believe it's been over a month since I came to England. Wow. I'm probably going to stay here since Elders and Sisters that are getting trained typically will be in the same area for at least 2 transfers with the same companion. But who know. Crazy things happen so never hold a missionary to it when they say they that they won't move or change companions at a transfer.
We actually had two Elders Emergency Transferred to one of the areas in our district because it was closed temporarily and needed to be reopened. It was funny when we got a call with them basically saying "hey we just arrived to Harlow (the area) and don't know what to do". They are fitting in just great now and have got things rollin'.
This week we were having success finding people to teach, but several drop off or change their minds about learning more. It feels like we're at the bottom. It's humbling, and has helped me realize more and more everyone has their agency and ability to choose if what we have to offer and help them understand about the gospel is for them. But I can't complain or be upset because I'm doing the best I can with my companion and we are still having a great time because we are doing our best. Honestly still having a blast. It's only up from here! A miracle we had was this Sunday! A man were teaching named Frank came to church with us! After the services he said he loved it, that he wants to keep coming, and it made him so happy.
We had a dinner appointment with a member named Tony in Aylesbury Saturday and he got us fish and chips. Finally tried some real English food. It was so good. We played a small prank on him when we got to his flat after grabbing food. He was showing us a guitar and Elder Hansen said "Elder Berry can play the guitar really good!" I went with it because I saw him pull out his phone to the side and about to click a song that is pure guitar solo. Tony is older and probably doesn't have the best hearing anymore because as soon as Elder Hansen pressed play I started to act like I was playing the guitar like the song and Tony was in awe. I tried to make it as believable as possible and Tony fell for it. It was such a good improv. joke and I eventually just stopped faking at once and the music kept playing and Tony lost it lol.
That about sums up my week. I had to also speak on Sunday and I talked about the Holy Ghost. Had one day to prepare, but it went very well. Today we are going to play some more district football and I'm so excited. It was such a blast last time.
Hope everyone has a great week.
Second Nephi Ch. 2: v27:
Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.
1. Sunsets here are stellar...just saying.
2. Went knocking on doors for the first time.
3. At interviews.
4. The Tony himself.
5. Still trying to figure our how to spin a ball on my finger.
