Baptisms And Crane Operations

Laura got Baptized!! That was amazing. We got to have a dinner with her the night before her baptism and enjoyed a good meal with her son, and friend, Jim. I got to speak too at the baptism and it's nice because speaking in the Aylesbury ward comes really easy now that I've been here so long. It feels like my home. I've been here a while.

This week has really been a lot of preparation for the baptism and Thursday we had interviews with the President Thompson. Spent some time prepping a good training with the other DLs in the zone on using the scriptures and teaching in unity. It was weird because interviews were over zoom this time, but it went really well.

We had a couple great lessons this week.

We've had to drop a couple of friends, which is hard, but they aren't progressing or hasn't showed up when we plan to meet somewhere.

We had the chance to deliver some Christmas gifts in Dunstable to members who haven't been to church in a long time and it was nice to see and connect with them.

On Sunday we had a DA with the Botterells, who served in Africa as mission presidents. They fed us an English version of a casserole, which was more soupy than American Casseroles. It had dumplings on top and English venison which I never thought I'd get to try, but it was REALLY good. Charlie, the Botterell's grandson had his baptismal interview as well and is now just patiently waiting with us for the rest of his family to come and visit from the states to participate in that at the end of December.

We got a referral Sunday as well who is absolutely awesome and wants to meet us again tomorrow for a chapel tour! Pray for Roberto! :)

Today I woke up and thought I was just heading to the town center with Elder Windsor to get a haircut, but the crane that has been building the flat complex next to ours was being controlled remotely by a worker and I asked him as we passed by if he would let me try and he did! That was awesome!!

Shoutout: Sorry Ben, you may be driving forklifts and excavators, but your brother is operating cranes. Love ya.

Spiritual thought: Giving Holiness to the Lord - L. Todd Budge

"In modern usage, the term sacrifice has come to connote the concept of “giving up” things for the Lord and His kingdom. However, in ancient days, the meaning of the word sacrifice was more closely tied to its two Latin roots: sacer, meaning “sacred” or “holy,” and facere, meaning “to make.” Thus, anciently sacrifice meant literally “to make something or someone holy.” Viewed as such, sacrifice is a process of becoming holy and coming to know God, not an event or ritualistic “giving up” of things for the Lord."

I think about this quote as we approach Christmas time! Hope you like it as well :) Here’s the link to the talk if you would like to read:
